ORPHEUS & EURYDICE IN 10 MINUTES

This is a homemade video, made by three teenagers for their mythology project in school. The myth: While fleeing from Aristaeus, Eurydice ran into a nest of snakes which bit her fatally. Distraught, Orpheus played such sad songs and sang so mournfully that all the nymphs and gods wept. On their advice, Orpheus traveled to the underworld and his music softened the hearts of Hades, who agreed to allow Eurydice to return with him to earth on one condition: he should walk in front of her and not look back until they both had reached the upper world. He set off with Eurydice following and in his anxiety as soon as he reached the upper world he turned to look at her, but her foot was still in the shadows of the Underworld

Orpheus and Eurydice Act 1 Scene 1 (Streets of New Orleans)

based on the 1959 movie by Marcel Camus. The story is an ancient Greek myth of two lovers, Orpheus and Eurydice; Orpheus is a young man who can make the sun rise with the beauty of his voice, and Eurydice is his tragic love. On their wedding day, Eurydice is dancing through a meadow when she is bitten on the heel by a snake. She immediately dies and her soul goes to Hades, the underworld where all souls go after death. Bereft of his young bride, Orpheus decides to go down to the underworld and plead with Hades to release Eurydice back to him. At first, Hades refuses, but when Orpheus begins to sing, even the God of the Dead is moved to tears and agrees to allow Eurydice to return above ground to join the living, but on one condition - that Orpheus cannot look upon her face until they reach above ground. If Orpheus looks back at her while they are still in Hades' dominion, then Eurydice will return to him as his prisoner and Orpheus will never see her alive again. The two lovers begin their trek but just as Orpheus sees the sunlight breaking through the mouth of the cave above ground, he can no longer restrain himself and he turns with shining eyes to gaze upon his beloved. But alas, in his eagerness to be with his love, Orpheus has broken Hades' condition and with a cry of despair Eurydice is drawn back into the depths of the underworld, never to be seen by Orpheus or any living creature again. GHOSTS - Part III - Eurydice Underground

Watch in High Quality! Filmed in London, UK as part of the Nine Inch Nails "Ghosts" Film Festival. Inspired by "Ghosts" we created a 22 minute short film recontextualizing the classical Greek myth of "Orpheus & Eurydice". Improvised and shot on the go. ---- A failed leap year proposal leads to a wrong time/wrong place for Eurydice. As she descends into the underworld - literally the underground where the dead continue on, she is unable to. Caught up in her memories and love of Orpheus she tries to catch the right tube home. Lost in the underworld, a chance meeting with a sympathetic Izanami (the Goddess of creation and death) leads to her eventual return to the overworld. Upon her arrival she discovers that Orpheus has moved on after her death. She decides to leave him in the land of the living after witnessing his new found happiness and returns to the underworld. Orpheus and Eurydice

Orpheus, gifted musician, follows his dead love to the underworld and begs Hades for her return to life. Inspired by his music, Hades agrees to release Eurydice on the condition that Orpheus refuse to look behind as she follows him back to light.
