Alesana - Alchemy Sounded Good at the Time This song is about Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus, the man who invented music in Greek mythology, is in love with his stunning young bride, Eurydice. So perfectly happy in love with each other, their love headed them into a tragedy because that certain extent of happiness doesn't belong to mortals. One day, as Eurydice was picking from a grove tree, she was spotted by a Sator, a half-man and half-goat beast known for his uncontrollable sex drive. The Sator plunged to her but she tried to escape. As a result, she slipped into a pit of poisonous vipers and where she was bitten to death. Unable to accept that she was dead, He have found a way to trick the ferryman and deceived the ancient god to bring back Eurydice to life. Orpheus went to the Underworld and asks Hades for a chance to reclaim his stolen bride. He went pass by Karin, Hades' "ferryman", and Cerberus, the three- headed guard dog of the Underworld through the magical incantation of the music of his lyre. Touched and moved by Orpheus's skill in music, Hades allowed Orpheus to return Eurydice to the land of the living with one condition, "for a price too high": that until they reach the surface, he was not allowed to look back to verify if she was behind him.
