Persephone and Hades: Rulers of the Greek Underworld

The song is Ανάθεμά σε - Anathema se (Damn you) from Pantelis Thalassinos (Παντελής Θαλασσινός). Persephone (Περσεφόνη) is the daughter of Demeter (Δημήτηρ), who was the goddess of nature. Hades (ᾍδης) abducted her and violated her, and brought her down to the underworld. Persephone leaves the underwold to go back to her mother Demeter, but then she must return to the underworld. This has important symbolism with the changing of the seasons. Charon (Χάρων) brings the souls across the river Styx (Στύξ) only if they had their funeral rites performed over them, a ritual that includes leaving coins on the eyes of the deceased.
